JHEP advances SDG 1 (No Poverty), Indicator 1.3.5

Pauh, Perlis — The Student Affairs Department (JHEP), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is committed to ensuring that financial hardship does not derail a student’s education—Malaysian or international. In 2024, JHEP disbursed RM1,943,852.75 in aid to 7,090 recipients through universal Welfare and Health schemes, a safety net that also covers international students (HEPA Annual Report 2024, p. 31).

Universal Welfare & Health Assistance

  • Welfare Scheme: RM1,805,115.00 to 6,735 recipients
  • Health Scheme: RM138,737.75 to 355 recipients
    These university-wide provisions cushion students against acute financial and health-related shocks, helping them stay enrolled, progress, and complete their degrees.

How we support it: By operating universal welfare and health schemes that include international students, and by actively informing them of available aid and simple application steps, JHEP reduces financial hardship for students from low/lower-middle-income countries, enabling them to continue and complete their studies.
